Brenda Blisk Featured as One of Five Women Business Leaders In Northern Virginia Magazine
McLean, VA, July 7, 2011 - Brenda Blisk, CFP®, Founder & CEO of The Blisk Financial Group at Spire Investment Partners in McLean, is featured as one of five leading business women in the July issue of Northern Virginia Magazine.
In an article entitled, "Women Warriors," Blisk says her secret for success the fact that "I have always loved serving other people."
Blisk has been a financial advisor for 26 years, starting her financial career in 1985. In 1997 Blisk and her team went independent as an Investor Advisor Representative of Legacy Advisors, LLC, (now Spire Investment Partners). Serving clients in more than 20 states, Blisk heads a team of five, which manages more than $280 million in assets.
Commenting on the glass ceiling, Blisk says: "Well, as you know, the financial industry has always been very male-dominated and still is. Back in 1985 and 1986 when I began my training in New York, I was like the bumble bee. Scientists tell you the bumble bee can't fly, but the bumble bee doesn't know that, and the bumble bee goes ahead an flies anyway. I'm the bumble bee."
Blisk's success has been recognized by Barron’s Magazine: in March 2011 she was named for the third year as one of the “Top 1000 Financial Advisors” in the U.S. She was recognized in both 2007 and 2008 by Virginia Business Magazine as one of the top 50 wealth advisors in Virginia, and in 2009, 2010 and 2011 as one of the top 25.
The other women featured in Northern Virginia Magazine are Angie Goff, WUSA news personality; Kristina Bouweiri, CEO of Reston Limo; Elaine G. Howard, president and CEO of Gannett Government Media Corporation; and Cynthia De Lorenzi, president and CEO of Success in the City.
